16 1918 pattern Austins served with 17th Bn on the Western Front, armed with Hotchkiss MGs.
The other 24 1918 pattern Austins originally destined for the Russians were used by #DunsterForce in North Persia/Caucasus, armed with Vickers MGs.
After far too long away from the painting table I’m planning my return! More #Dunsterforce prepped and undercoated for my #WW1inPersia project. Hope to get cracking on these and the South Persia Rifles next week :-)
Back to the UK next week and planning to get my painting mojo back on….continuing with my 28mm #WW1inPersia / #Dunsterforce project. Purchased a few extra bits from EBay & @NorthStarFigs
Love that my spare room is effectively my “bits box”…..found these raw resin bell tents at the weekend (Grandmanner I think). They’ll be perfect for the British to use in Persia #Dunsterforce
Don’t think I shared pics of my finished Junior Officers for my foray into Persia #Dunsterforce Hoping to get back to working on the force once I’m over my little health blip.
Completed renovating/re-painting the first couple of scatter pieces last night for my #WW1inPersia #Dunsterforce games. For anyone after the paints and techniques used, stages 2 & 3 of the renovation guide will be posted later.
Making a start on renovating some old terrain and painting some new pieces I have built. First up are some old resin sandbag positions that need a freshen up in the new desert scheme #WW1inPersia #Dunsterforce
On this week’s to do list (alongside painting more #Dunsterforce British) is to renovate these old 28mm dug out/sandbag positions so they match my current table. I think are from the old (and much missed) Snapdragon Line.
Was lucky enough to get a few packs of Perry’s British Camel Corps for Christmas. I’ve just cleaned them up and based them in the hope of priming/base coating them between showers tomorrow. Lovely crisp sculpts #Dunsterforce
Next batch of Turkish Cavalry underway for my WW1 / #Dunsterforce games. Figures are Perry Egyptian Gendarmes.
Stage 5 of my Turkish Cavalry: Washes & Highlights…… #TurkishDelights #Dunsterforce
Stage 4 of the Turkish Cavalry for my #Dunsterforce games #TurkushDelight
Stage 3 of the Turkish Cavalry #TurkishDelights #Dunsterforce
Stage 2 of the Turkish Cavalry: #TurkishDelights #Dunsterforce
Making a start on the #TurkishDelights #Dunsterforce
First of the militia units finished late last night. Next up, finishing some Turkish Infantry #Dunsterforce
Some Perry Egyptian Gendarmes I picked up on EBay, that will be pressed into service as Turkish Cavalry for my #Dunsterforce games
Let’s see if I can get this first unit of militia finished off today. Just a few details and highlights to do #Dunsterforce
Base colours done on the first dozen militia. I’m Going to run militia in units of 16, so need to make up another 4 tomorrow before I continue painting this first group #Dunsterforce
Making swift progress on the Persian militia using GW contrast paints and some simple highlights and detailing #Dunsterforce
Just a few details to finish on these @WargameAtlantic Afghans. Destined to become the first of the Persian militia ready for my #Dunsterforce games. I’m making 2 units of 16 to support the Turks, so it’ll take me a week or 2 to get them all finished .
#TurkishDelights Stage 4 #Dunsterforce
Nearly there with my test unit of #Turkishdelights for my #Dunsterforce games, just a highlight & some detail left to do.
After the week I’ve had at work I needed a late session painting to think & clear my head a little, as a result its nearly 3AM and I am just heading to bed! Stage 2 complete on my test Turks #Dunsterforce
Really dislike making plastics…..tedious job, and for me not in the slightest bit rewarding. But these @WargameAtlantic Afghans will make great militia rabble supporting the Turks in Persia & Southern Caucasus #Dunsterforce
Another find in my pile of leftovers that will be repurposed for my #Dunsterforce games. 35 of these fellas left in the box, that will make 2 x 16 man militia units to join the Turkish forces :-)
Painting some trial Turkish Infantry for my #Dunsterforce games (so I can settle on the colours to use for the full force). I’ve also started recording the paints I use in this new format as my painting records have always been just text and it’s nice to have a visual reminder.
Got some Perry Egyptian Infantry left over from another project and wondering if I can get away with painting them up as Turkish infantry for my #Dunsterforce games, particularly when I look at the centre guy in the 2nd photo. Thoughts?
Unit ready for the printer #Dunsterforce
