Watercolour sketch, a landscape, painted last August while sat on the dry grass under what I though was a random tree in Aldershot, England. The main road through is hidden by the middle foreground shrubs/hedges. The background comprises trees and large bushes with a house roof breaking through the middle.
The rather boring photo I chose to sketch, simply because it was what was in front of me. It was taken on a warm summer's day with blue skies and some fluffy white clouds.
The lone tree I was sat under amid the recently mown grass. It was the only tree with no people sat in its shade, hence my choosing it. A small stone is just visible below the tree.
The plaque on the stone reads: THE CHAPLIN TREE This tree was planted on 16th Decemer 1994 by the Mayor of Rushmoor, Councillor Peter Lillywhite to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Charlie Chaplin's first stage performance which took place at "The Canteen" in Aldershot in 1894. Donated by E. Finch & Sons.
Sat under a tree
Watercolour sketching
What was in front of me
Just what I could see
Little did I know
I was sat beneath
The Chaplin Tree.
