GCA if temporal artery biopsy ask pathologist to look for fibrinoid necrosis. If present diagnosis NOT GCA and need to check ANCA - think systemic vasculitis with temporal artery involvement...#vasculitiswisdom #EUVAS #Firenze 🇮🇹

Tocilizumab in large vessel #vasculitis..Magic bullet? Steroid sparing. knocks out CRP (&maybe ESR) as biomarker 😰NICE approve use for 1 year...is that too short? MTX before stopping TCA. Start MTX & TCA together? Should we check IL6 levels? No one knows 😮 #EUVAS #Firenze 🇮🇹

Benjamin Terrier, Paris. EGPA: differs according to ANCA status. 2 phenotypes vasculitis & eosinophillic. ANCA negative poorer outcome probably due to increased cardiac involvement slower diagnosis and less IS #EUVAS 🇮🇹 #vasculitis #palazzocorsini

Ingeborg Bajema asks can we predict outcome effectively in AAV? Not yet but it’s coming🙏🏽...renal biopsy gives useful info & perhaps in combo with geno & phenotype can classify & predict better +/- Rx differently #EUVAS #palazzocorsini 🇮🇹
