UCD Archives & UCD School of Music commissioned a cantata to commemorate the centenary of the start of the civil war with a libretto written using the documents in UCDA. Ed Vulliamy and theatre artist Kellie Hughes wrote the libretto and Anne-Marie O'Farrell composed the music. #EYAHuge #EYAOllmhór

Day 4: #ExploreYourArchive

It’s such a huge honour to have worked/be working on @uniofgalwaylib.bsky.social’s biggest and second biggest collections: the Mary Robinson and Conradh na Gaeilge archives (660 & 600 boxes!). Both immensely rich & diverse collections.

This book press from the Hayes, Conyngham & Robinson Pharmaceutical Chemists collection is definitely #huge!
From the research I’ve done so far it would have been used to copy letters, very useful for Victorian record keeping I would think! #EYAHuge @araireland.bsky.social #explorearchives

Some huge (and long) items in our collections are scrolls created by traditional scroll painters from Naya Village in West Bengal as part of the AHRC project 'Famine and Dearth in India and Britain, 1550-1800'.

Here is archivist Hollie unrolling a scroll!

You can now browse our largest volume - this huge student register, covering 1888-1902 (SBHMS/S/2/10) - alongside the other registers in the series. Digital access will help avoid damage to the volume, which takes two people to carry it!

This is one of the largest documents we've dealt with on the project: a huge roll of depositions taken in 1656 in the Nettleton v Wandesford Chancery case, about money owed from the estate of Alice Thornton's late father, Christopher Wandesford.

We also went #huge with an anatomical textbook from 1747 featuring rhinoceros Clara in the background. Medical textbooks were often large to be able to show the illustrated details accurately. Poor Clara was exhibited around Europe, and died in London in 1758
