birography --> biography
Speaking of reviewing a ms. before turning it in—I always reread the footnotes/endnotes. There is so much to check in each citation that I need two passes to catch everything.

if --> in
This was in one of my notes, which is why I always read through my comments again before turning in a manuscript.

pollical --> political
I didn't even know 𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 was a word, but apparently spellcheck did. 😅

aide --> aid
That one usually goes the other way around, but either way, spellcheck didn't catch it. 😉

The corner of my laptop covered in ragged sticky notes with chapter numbers written on them that I can cross out as I go.
My very professional organization system. 😂

It's the first day of school, so I'm back in my favorite spot at the library. 😊📚

List of things I worked on in October. I finished up a copyedit and proofread a study guide, a crime fiction romance book, a book of short stories, and a kids picture book. I also read a few published SFF books for fun.
Wow. I guess November has been so wild that I forgot to post my October summary after I made it. 😅
I have been working on more fiction than I used to, but that's been an interesting way to mix things up. And Halloween with the kids was fun. 🎃

Blue background frame with a list of things I did in September: started and ended the month copyediting nonfiction books, proofread one fiction and one nonfiction books, read some fantasy books for fun, and got the school year started.
Happy October! 🎃
Here's some of what I was up to in September. Anyone else working on fun projects?

Marissa's 2023 summary: I worked on 45 books in 2023—proofread 38, copyedited 5, and beta read 2. Of those, 38 were nonfiction and 7 were fiction books.
I started the year with a huge copyedit, so this is very late, but happy New Year! It was fun to look more closely at my work from 2023.
I'm working on upping those copyedit numbers and maybe the fiction numbers too. Looking forward to what's to come!

negative character flaw --> character flaw
A character flaw is a negative character trait, so "negative character flaw" is redundant.
(I will say, we were talking about things seen as character flaws that aren't; no hate here.😊)
