Well that was a long but very fun day of AMR. I really hope everyone enjoyed it but time to relax with a glass of red wine and a cuddle from my boy! #EastMidsAMR

Last but not least Adriano Gigante on the use of blue light to treat Pseudomonas ear infections in dogs! I'm expecting lots of dog pictures... #EastMidsAMR

Lots of issues with the metaphors being used, e.g. desensitised, "silence" risks reducing risk perception and lack of nuance. Novel, unique and consistent metaphors needed. Really fascinating talk!! #EastMidsAMR

Next up we have @evakrockow.bsky.social on the use of metaphors in discussing AMR with the public. Really interesting the themes used to describe AMR in a wide range of media, including "war" and "apocalypse". Lack of thinking outside of the box and using new metaphors, inconsistent #EastMidsAMR

Phage and Bdellovibrio can be combined to treat E. coli! #EastMidsAMR

Final session at #EastMidsAMR kicked off by Laura Hobley and Robert Atterbury on phage and predatory bacteria to combat AMR. Demonstrate of success in treating polymicrobial infections with phage with no impact on gut microbiome. Also the promise of Bdellovibrio treatment!

The next speaker is Will Thompson from the Microbiology Society on their Knocking Out AMR initiative and the current AMR policy landscape in the UK and globally. Lots of commitment to AMR, which will hopefully be backed up by funding. tinyurl.com/5d8cdenx #EastMidsAMR

"Old" resistance genes became more prevalent in ST131 post 2014 compared to pre 2000. Likely linked with F type plasmids and gene cassettes. #EastMidsAMR

Why is ST131 so successful? Using pangeome analysis and tracking alleles, identifying a significant increase in core and accessory allelic similarity in phylogroup B2 between pre 2000 and post 2014 datasets. #EastMidsAMR

Lunch was incredible with huge cakes and time to settle in for @lillycummins.bsky.social keynote talk, on the genomics relics of MDR lineages of E. coli. #EastMidsAMR
