Picture of Jason Rose looking delighted on his Raleigh e-bike
Jason's competition entry... Hungry for Haddington! 2. Who is it suitable for? – Families with young children / Experienced cyclists / Novice cyclists / 3. Where is the route located? – East Lothian 4. Brief description of route a. Start point…Longniddry railway station b. End point (or circular)…Longniddry railway station via Haddington Farmers Market c. Brief description…Follow the old railway line, now an excellent walking/cycling path from Longniddry station five miles to Haddington and then return via the same route 5. Any interesting / useful / beautiful features / facilities en route It's a good surface, away from traffic, through beautiful countryside, always lots of birds in the hedgerows, you often see deer in the fields, sometimes hares and there is a picnic bench half way along if small people need a break 6. Why is this a favourite route of yours? I'm a hardy cyclist but have a family who prefer fair weather and no hills, so this old railway line is perfect as it's pretty flat and sheltered but affords wonderful views and if you time it right - last Saturday of the month - you can stock up on tasty treats at the farmers market in Haddington. The ride justifies a bit of cake!
