"The Wreck
of the Edmund Fitzgerald" has helped its legend live on along the Great Lakes.
The walls of the Anchor Bar and Grill in Superior, Wis., are full of maritime memorabilia.
Some of the Fitz's crew were there the night before they left port for the last time, said owner Adam Anderson.
"The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" is on the bar's juke-box, and patrons play it frequently - sometimes again and again, Anderson said. "Wehear it and we're like, here we go." Hansen, the Hjordis' cap-tain, admires the song but grid

it gets old - like when it wafts over the lake from a Grand Marais bar as he's bringing nervous passengers out: "The only thing worse would be the
'Gilligan's Island' song."
Scriven, the lighthouse keeper, hears it streaming from Split Rock visitors' phones.
There isn't a day that goes by that he doesn't hear about the Edmund Fitzgerald in some shape or form, which he attributes to the song.
"I do think that the song immortalized the sinking in a way that is a good thing from a historical perspective," he said.
"It keeps us talking about it. It keeps us talking about the dangers of Lake Superior. It keeps us talking about the dangers of shipping and what these people are going through and to remember that."
