The picture shows the Martyrs Memorial on Algiers under dark stormy skies.. Lavalin was the company responsible for the designs and construction of the monument in 1982. Algerian artists were involved, like the painter Bashir Yelles, the calligrapher Abdelhamid Skander plus the Polish sculptor Marian Konieczny. It stands as a memorial to those lives lost during Algeria's hard-won war for independence. It stands 302 feet tall and consists of 3 stylised palm leaves around an eternal flame. Rendered in black and white for effect.
