This image shows the central courtyard fountain, known as "El Paraguas" (The Umbrella), at the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City.  Designed by architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez and engineer Óscar de Buen López de Heredia, this massive suspended roof structure features a central pillar crowned by a waterfall. Completed in 1964, the fountain is intended to evoke traditional Mayan open-air ceremonial forums and symbolizes the connection between water, life, and survival in Mesoamerican belief.
