I guess the Root finally decided to bless me with good RNG because not only did I finally beat Hilltop Layer difficulty 7 after like four tries, but I won by a LANDSLIDE. Every other attempt I lost around only round 5...

The way to go was obvious, but it too k a few tries to get it right #EmeraldRush event. Go with Egg and float multipliers, unlock skills that increase these two and then farm these wall crawlers in floor 2 in the last 2-3 rounds.
