According to experts, even though everything generates a waste of water and energy, Generative AIs are the last straw. 3 The Spanish Institute of Enginery that a single ChatGPT inquiry triples the waste of a Google search. 4 Acording to this data, a single ChatGPT inquiry would generate the same CO2 as sending about 20 WhatsApps or Google Searches (4/0,2?). 5 Generating a single image wastes as much energy as fully-charging a mobile phone. 6 Even though generating a single image with ChatGPT sems to have little impact, its massive use multiplies its environmental impact (withouth taking into account the water and energy waste). 7 A Single Google search uses 0,2 water galons aprox. (about 0,9L). It is important to point out that this waste is for a search that can bear you thousands of results, while the waste of ChatGPT is only for 100 words.
