#NP Honeyblood | In Plain Sight
It took the recent #Eponymous10 challenge for me to reconnect with Honeyblood. The third album arrived today on CD and it's terrific, maybe even better than Babes Never Die. Getting properly primed for album number 4 now 😎

Day Ten: The Pretenders
One of the greatest debut albums ever. To me contains some of the best vocals of any 80s rock album. Brilliant guitar solos, and a steady and tough rhythm section. Absolutely love it

Day Nine: Elastica
I don't care if it's an album ripping off a sound, when that sound is so fun. Besides Justine Frischmann was an invigorating lead singer. A blast.

Oh yeah, I didn't forget this challenge, just was trying to think. Duh!

Blur/Blur
Dropping an eponymously named album 5 into their career is fitting given the stylistic turn with a more stripped/indie take. Yeah, “Inside America” is “Magic America” redux but the rest is pretty great. Picks “MOR”, “Chinese Bombs”, “Death of a Party” and this
#Eponymous10 #MusicChallenge
Day Eight: The Specials
mix of ska and punk was perfected on this pivotal album. The late Terry Hall had an essential voice for these songs; cannot imagine anyone else singing Dammers' lyrics with mix of sneer and empathy.

The Cars/The Cars
Maybe 2 iffy songs. The rest?
I mean…. “Good Times Roll", “My Best Friend's Girl", “Just What I Needed", “You're All I've Got Tonight" , “Bye Bye Love", “Moving in Stereo"
and this under-appreciated classic….
#Eponymous10 #MusicChallenge
Day Seven: Violent Femmes
rite of passage to have this (seemed to be the one 80s "alternative" album everyone had in HS/college), threatening over exposure. But, songs stand up extremely well and the album is indeed a classic.

The Smiths / The Smiths
Yeah…. I know “Peel session mixes…. yadda, yadda…” all that said, we got “This Charming Man” stateside. “Reel…”, “Still Ill”, “You’ve Got Everything Now”…. well…. “What Difference Does It Make”
#Eponymous10 #MusicChallenge
Day Six: Madonna
Not one I own but but it fits. This is her best, most consistent album (sorry "Like a Prayer" you got 2-3 stinkers). Simple, catchy pop without (too much) over production.

Day Five (late): LiLiPUT
Less frenetic than their pre-album singles (a couple songs aside), including under prior name Kleenex, this is a damn good album. Much better than the mid follow up "Some Songs"

Suede / Suede
A mind bending my great debut. Forget for a moment the spectacle of Brett at the Brits… the lineup of tracks is just amazing. “Nitrate”, “Metal Mickey”, “Pantomime Horse” and the track that is a great calling card to the next album….

The Beatles
colloquially know as 'The White Album' this eponymous release is arguably their best work

Finishing where I started with Metal.
In 1991 grunge was everywhere and yet Metallica released their eponymously named 5th album which is still their most successful to date.
