Fascinating:

Cardiac amyloidosis patients have impaired LArStrain out of proportion to their LA size. It seems as if the amyloid stiffens the atrial myocardium and prevents further dilatation despite elevated pressure.
Also: Thrombembolic risks rises even in sinus rhythm!

Arrhythmogenic mitral valve prolapse. Great session with experts K. Haugga, F. Nesta and B. Essayagh.

Main take away: Every prolapse needs a Holter and often #whycmr. And still a lot of unanswered questions but an algorithm that helps for now:

Who wouldn't want to be the test person in this experiment where you perform Valsalva while having a TOE-probe down your esophagus.

The early days of sports physiology!
Actually, not even that long ago.

O. Smiseth with a kind reminder that diastolic function has three components: Relaxation, Diastolic stiffness and filling pressure.

If you expect some simple guidelines with easy parameters to evaluate diastolic function you‘re mistaken!

Another slide from yesterday‘s amyloid session:Look at the scatter plots:intraobserver variability is (obviously) better when it’s always the same person doing GLS,but always the same if it’s an AI doing it! This could be a game changer in detecting suttle changes over time.

Slide from Prof Cuddy‘s great talk on cardiac amyloid yesterday: Depending on the burden (ie stage of the disease) different imaging markers may or may not be evident. MAPSE & Strain reduction comes early, LA dilation quite late. We need to catch it early and be sensitive! #euroecho24

Please share what might be of interest from the conference here for those of us who aren't able to join! #euroecho and #euroecho24 posts will be picked up both by the #echosky feed and my new EuroEcho feed. bsky.app/profile/did:...

I’ve made a feed for #euroecho24, it will collect all posts mentioning EuroEcho with or without hashtags. I also updated my #echosky feed to do the same bsky.app/profile/did:...

Heading to #Berlin with @josopala.bsky.social for #EuroEcho24 next week and we have one day to explore the city. Any recommendations? We're prioritising fun over history (I'd rather do that with more time!) and a Christmas market wouldn't go amiss
