Deutlicher Anstieg bei Fällen von West-Nil-Virus in Österreich | MedUni Wien (Wien, 09-01-2026) Eine Langzeitstudie des Zentrums für Virologie der Medizinischen Universität Wien zeigt einen deutlichen Anstieg von Erkrankungen durch das West-Nil-Virus in Österreich. Im Jahr 2024 wurden mit 37 bestätigten Fällen so viele Infektionen registriert wie nie zuvor seit dem Erstnachweis im Jahr 2009. Besonders betroffen war erstmals auch das Nordburgenland, wo sich das Virus deutlich stärker ausbreitete als in den Jahren zuvor.
