Keep her little loves close to the chest Each a bundle at each breast Swaddled and wrapped tight Each with a nipple to ease their fright The mother keeps up with the crowd These desperate times caused the village to flee Cross a river, around a mountain, away from the sea Carrying all they could upon their backs Following close to each other, as a pack Quickly, yet with care not to make a sound For the lands ahead held their own dangers From wild beasts and wilder strangers Who seemed less noble than the villagers Because they were known as pillagers So on the people roamed
