Who is...? Professor Bernd Fitzenberger [FAU Prof] Bernd Fitzenberger has been Director of the IAB since September 2019 and Professor of Quantitative Labour Economics at Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg since October 2020. His main research areas are income and wage inequality, employment development, evaluation of labour market and education policy measures, vocational training and transition from school to work, maternal employment, trade unions (collective bargaining coverage, degree of organisation, wage structures and employment), evaluation methods and quantile regression methods. The professorship is funded as part of the High-Tech Agenda Bavaria (HTA). Seine Hauptforschungsgebiete sind Einkommens- und Lohnungleichheit, Beschäftigungsentwicklung, Evaluation von Maßnahmen der Arbeitsmarkt- und Bildungspolitik, berufliche Bildung und Übergang von Schule zu Beruf, Beschäftigung von Müttern, Gewerkschaften (Tarifbindung, Organisationsgrad, Lohnstrukturen und Beschäftigung), Evaluationsmethoden und Methoden der Quantilsregression. Die Professur wird im Rahmen der Hightech-Agenda Bayern (HTA) gefördert. Mit diesem Programm schafft die Regierung des Freistaats Bayern unter anderem 1.000 neue Professuren in wichtigen Zukunftsfeldern wie Künstliche Intelligenz, Clean Tech oder Luft- und Raumfahrt und stärkt damit Bayerns Spitzenposition in Forschung und Lehre und fördert die Entwicklung neuer Ideen und neuester Technologien sowie deren Umsetzung in die Praxis. #hightechagendabayern
