Hm, that man doesn't seem to know anything—perhaps my intuition is wrong on this one. Gale had finally found a promising lead on Laurent, where he was last seen in this area about a month ago. He'd known this was not just an area you wander into, so Gale surmised that Laurent likely lived around here—him, or the person who helped him to disappear whenever his jobs were done. But it also meant that Gale had to search blindly for any further information and be careful about it. Neighborhoods like these know very well how to stay out of each other's business and keep quiet about anything they do know.
