Chapter Text: It’s after the fact, once Lis and him have had their fun and he’s cleaned up, that Gladio sits in his room, rubbing his face. He and Iris… it's complicated. He spent so long convincing himself that Iris didn't need him in her life anymore. Even just coming over to Eorzea from Eos took a long conversation in his head, took countless reassurances from Iris herself that it'll be fine, Gladdy, I promise, you know I'm a big girl now. Coming over to Eorzea had him focusing on what he thought mattered, on the present moment. Thinking about his old man and Ma was already a handful, and thinking about what he left behind… Jared was there for him and Iris, wasn't he? Making food for them, taking them out to the zoo or aquarium… He was there, and sometimes he wasn't, and sometimes it was just Gladdy and Iris alone in the Amicitia Manor. Marshal Leonis was a friend of his father's, but Leonis wasn't in the business of babysitting. Weskham was busy elsewhere.

And there he was, gazing at him through a distant window in a black tee with a power button glowing pale green. Noctis shook his head, huffing out a breath, "What the hell is going on?" The guys had stopped attacking the closet door. In fact, he wasn't even in the storage room anymore. He was out of time. His breath caught in his throat as Lunafreya descended from a sky filled with miasmic clouds and Bahamut's avatars. Turned and every bit as daemonic as she'd been in the skies over Insomnia. In a flurry of miasmic feathers, Iris appeared like a smoldering seraph with eagle wings. Her face crowned by black wings and eyes too, clad in a shredded gown of feathers. Her hair floated like she was underwater, completely divorced from her movements as she settled into a martial arts stance. Like a goddess of war and discord, poised to defend her beloved queen. "Luna!" He pleaded as she rose like a cloud of darkness, above his reach. "It's me! Please don't do this! I love you!" Iris was suddenly right there. Noct threw himself to the ground. A fist with blackened fingertips followed by a clawed foot appearing right where his head had been. "Iris!" He shouted, vaulting back to his feet. "Please! You're like a little sister!" Seemingly displeased, though showing no visible emotions, the daemon Iris had become whipped her hand. A far larger version of her mother's sword stretched out from her hand.
