But, Dazai was the boss. He called the shots. So, after changing his outfit at home and grabbing his gear, Chuuya had found himself in the position of the stupid old clock tower that had perfect sight to Piano Man’s apartment. His sniper rifle was ready in his hands, he had his eyes glued on the target’s vicinity and he had a stupid mobile phone with him, headset connected to it and on the line with— “Hey, Elizabeth, how are you?~” Dazai purred into the phone. Chuuya didn’t need to be there to see the satisfied smirk and the amused glint in his brown eye. He rolled his own eyes, but while they were still staring through the scope of the rifle, he replied in his best rich aerugon girl impression, “Oh, Osamu, how nice of you to call me!” A delightful snicker was on the other end, the obnoxious smile /audible/. “Well, I missed your lovely voice, so how could I not?~” /This fucker was enjoying himself too fucking much./

Chuuya let out an annoyed sigh as his pen scratched over the paper. He finished filling out a report and lifted the paper, already on the next document as he grumbled, “Yo, Iceman—” Iceman’s brown eyes twinkled in amusement as he took it. “The Colonel is letting his work pile up again, huh? Do you need help?” “Help strangling him for shoving all of /this/ to me.” Chuuya didn’t even look up, but could very well imagine the sympathetic look he got. What he heard though was Albatross snorting right next to him which Chuuya was not afraid to reward with a glare. “Hey, don’t look at me like this! I’m already handling the entire Yoki-case for ya, ain’t I?” he grinned and even pushed his sunglasses up to wink at him. “After I /gave/ it to you, ya fuckin’—”

But Chuuya, stubborn Chuuya, showed unwavering determination as brown-blue eyes locked into his single brown one. His voice didn’t shake as he said, “I’ve seen cruelty in its rawest form already. I want to help you with your vision.” And how right he was. That didn’t mean that Dazai necessarily wanted all this for him, even though it was entirely too late already, even though it wasn’t their first talk about this, even though everything was set in stone now. Still, he couldn’t help himself as his smile shifted to match his teasing tone, “It’s not an easy path, where I’m going. Not exactly bright either. Are you sure you want to follow me?” /Are you sure that I’m worth it, are you sure you don’t want to back out while you still can?/ There was not a single moment of hesitation. Chuuya’s eyes flashed up with firm resolution as he set his own glass aside to drag his right arm behind his back while the other was lifted to a salute. When he spoke, his voice was filled with pure resolution that left not a single drop of doubt, “If you wish, I will follow you into the depths of hell.”

This beast (ba dum tzz) is almost 40k currently... but I finished chapter 1 actually!! Here's one snippet from that chapter 👀 i'm estimating the fic to be way over 100k lol, chapter 2 is about half done (probably)

Chuuya’s gun was pulled up and he shot before she even fully entered the room as he positioned himself between the woman and Gin. It only grazed her and he stared blankly back. “That was a warning. Next time it won’t just leave a scratch.” Just… that it didn’t leave a scratch, the wound immediately began to close. Shit. Chuuya didn’t allow that fact to break his poker face though, instead he grabbed his second gun. “Stay back, kid.” “Lieutenant, I don’t think—” “You sure feel full of yourself just like your little Colonel, huh? It’s a shame, really, that it had to end like this. He could have been useful.” Chuuya’s blood froze and he grit his teeth as he stepped forward, his voice filled with searing anger as he growled, “Where the fuck is he and what have you done?”
