The Tree of Life is an iconic Sitka spruce in Olympic National Park, near Kalaloch Lodge, famous for defying nature by growing on a coastal bluff with its roots exposed, suspended over a cavern. This landmark symbolizes resilience, as it has survived erosion and storms for decades, though it has recently slumped due to ongoing erosion, and its future is uncertain as it continues to cling to life. Visitors come to marvel at its precarious position and take photos, but are asked not to climb on it. Key features Location: On the beach near Kalaloch Campground in Olympic National Park, Jefferson County, Washington. Appearance: A large Sitka spruce with a massive, exposed root system that appears to hang in mid-air over a small creek. Symbolism: Represents resilience, impermanence, and the power of nature, inspiring awe and wonder.
