Alaska committee hears bill to make reduced‑price school breakfasts and lunches free Representative Maxine Deibert told the House Education Committee HB 12 would eliminate families' 30¢/40¢ charges for reduced‑price breakfasts and lunches and focus help on 3,326 students in 2026; staff estimated a capped annual cost in the low hundreds of thousands and the committee set an amendment deadline and set the bill aside for later consideration.
