...and there we have it. The entire month of #Febhyurary2026 in the books. I had to post this last one early because I just don't feel like staying up until midnight again and I really wanted to get it out there. I'm surprised I never missed a day. It was really difficult, but rewarding.

We see Margot Weisshexer, very close-up, wearing a blue lily corsage in her hair, and a pale blue overcoat over a dark sweater. Wherever she is, it is bitterly cold, but she is outside under weak sunlight. She is speaking with her eyes closed, recalling a memory, which she relates to someone. "You would not have recognized Estinien, I wager," she announces to her unseen friend, "when he beheld the great wyrm Vrtra in Thavnair. The compassion. The understanding. Twas as if the thousand years of war with dragon-kind were but a fairy tale spun from a macabre imagination."
Margot opens her eyes, turns her head away, and gazes into the distance, smiling. "Little Lord Alphinaud may finally be growing up at last," she chuckles in a half-mocking, half-loving tone, referring to their mutual friend who is absent and unable to defend his honor in the conversation. "He is lately an ambassador to both Garlemald and Alexandria, a nation borne here from another world by magics beyond our ken. We live in a world that we could not have imagined when first we met."
Margot laughs heartily as she continues, "And Tural! Oh, how I wish I could have taken you there to meet its people. So warm, kind, welcoming... Wuk Lamat would have loved you immediately and begged you to stay." She grows only slightly more somber, and adds, "And they, too, needed our aid."
Our view retreats from Margot's face, to reveal the friend to whom she has been speaking: Haurchefant Greystone, or, rather, his grave marker, with his sundered shield leaning against it. Margot has her gloved palm pressed against the cold metal. She opens her eyes to look at it as if she were again beholding her departed friend's face. "So you see, dear Ser Haurchefant," she addresses him formally, "it is no vain exaggeration to say that you, in saving me, have saved every life on this star. I shall ever endeavor to wear a smile befitting my station, for you, my hero. Rest now, old friend. Your duty is complete."
