A pair of Florida fern moths on a kitchen cupboard. The moths are mating. One is facing up, the other facing down. They have fuzzy brown bodies. The wings are spread out on both. The wings are a dark brown and when open the moth has a triangular shape. There is a white line going across the center and several white markings near the upper outer edge. There is also a thick white line at the bottom of each wing. The underwings appear grey. The head is tiny, but with long antennae reaching out to the sides. The female on the bottom of the photo is upside-down relative to the male and is also turned over, so it is viewed from the underside. It is mostly grey with white stripes across the body.
Florida fern moths. These were on a cupboard in Wisconsin, which is outside of its normal range. #FloridaFernMoth #CallopistriaFloridensis #FernMoth #Moth #Insect #Animal #Nature #Photography #Monona #Wisconsin
