I was one of the students that were sent over to the white school to get their used textbooks to bring back to high school. This happened in De Land, Volusia County. It was also going on in Dade County. Doing that made me feel less than white students getting there use, science and equipment made me for less than white students. So I was convinced as a child that the dream black and Florida came at a price. I joined the Navy, served until about nineteen, sixty six, sixty seven, most of the time on aircraft carrier. I left the Navy and I made the application to go to the Psychology graduate program at UA and receive a letter from university advising me that they did not accept negro students and offering the chance to go to another university outside of Florida with the state of Florida pay my tuition.
