Visit to the Fogo Island Biosphere Reserve Interpretation Center
6th-grade students from São Domingos School visited the Fogo Biosphere Reserve Interpretation Center, learning about its importance with support from technicians of the Fogo Natural Park.

Last week in São Filipe, a Boyd’s Shearwater chick and a Bulwer’s Petrel were rescued, cared for, and successfully released back into the wild.

Short visit to #FogoIsland today to see my maternal grandmother's ancestral home.
This is what remains of their house: the base of the chimney.
My mother is sitting there, on the same footprint where she played as a child. She spent her first 11 years summering on Fogo (Back Cove).

The first Pedreiro (Puffinus iherminiery boydi) nest was found on Fogo Island as part of the SOS EDU campaign. Huge thanks to Cristiano Andrade for reporting the chick—ringed and safely returned!

Environmental awareness activities were carried out in the Fogo island schools. The program included talks on sharks and rays conservation and the students also engaged in educational games about seabirds.
