There fan made scarves for the Portland Timbers, top bottom: top scarf depicts two halves of the Seattle Space Needle (when worn around the neck, the halves join to make a full picture), climbing up the left side of the space is the gorilla from the Rampage arcade game, he is at the top and punching the observation deck. At the bottom of the left side is a lumberjack chopping at the base with an axe. The base of the Space Needle is on fire, and the tower is cracked and ready to crumble. There are helicopters flying near the top of the Space Needle and a tank below. There is a red and yellow star near the middle; the second scarf is a “summer weight” material (thin and stretchy, nice in the heat), across the middle it says “Battlestar Portlandia” in reference to the Battlestar Galatica show, on the left edge is a circular crest with a rose in the center and it says “Battlestar Portlandia” in curved text above the rose, and “BSP” below, on the left edge is a diamond shaped crest that says “BSP 107”, which is a reference to section 107 (the heart of the Timbers Army in the stadium); the lower scarf is Beatles themed and on left it says “We’ll be comin’ down the road” in both a reference to a Timbers Army chant and The Beatles album “Abbey Road”, on the right side a silhouette of four people in a cross walk, carrying axes, with a ball in front of them, which is a reference to the Timbers and the Beatles album cover for Abbey Road, in the center is a red rose.
Other side of these scarves, top to bottom: top one says “Rose City Rampage” with the Rampage in the distinctive yellow and red font from the Rampage video game, on the ends are gorilla hands holding up a red card (right side) and yellow card (left side); the center scarf says “Fank ‘Em All” which is a phrase from the Battlestar Galatica show (“Frak” is a swear word in the show), on the edges are the same circular and diamond shaped crests as the front side; on the bottom scarf it says “Here comes the sun” in reference to the Beatles song as well as a subtle reference to the use of the “You Are My Sunshine” song sung by the Timbers Army at the 80th minute of games, on the edges of the scarf are sunburst images which was a popular iconography of the Timbers Army for long time.
The Rose City Rampage scarf’s Space Needle side lined up as it would look around your neck, joining the two halves of the Space Needle for the complete picture. For full description of the image see the alt-text on one of the other pictures in this post.
