from the name to the past to the origin of the vital instrument and to his motives with rudo, all of these were built up and laid out so beautifully and NATURALLY which is such a difficult thing to do with backstories. enjin was from an orphanage who engaged in the slave trade and he feels strongly at fault for this, thus reinforcing his need to always be the glue to hold his family and his people no matter the cost. enjin had blackout tattoos because he wanted something for himself and to conceal the branding of his past. enjin was saved by alto in a strikingly similar manner as rudo, but the significance is that enjin knew he had to wait and see for this son to come up. his motives in no man’s land was a test of patience and good faith. most likely to repay his own savior, but also likely that said savior gave a warning of his son ending up at the ground, in the coming years. i can imagine how long he must have stood there, braved all those dangers, and dejectedly trudged back home, whether to some safe house with the doctor (whom he now obviously has longstanding connections with, which gives me abit of speculation with how the stilza siblings got along with enjin, august knowing more than he shows most likely), or now back to the cleaner’s base. it’s kinda funny imagining him being happy about rudo dropping down, but also relieved that he can start repaying alto’s deeds or fulfilling some promise with him. and his name,,, so haphazardly out together by various guardians and caretakers that only he bothered to remember it. and alto providing a better one, significant of his comment about a modded-out car and the lost meaning from an ancient language. enjin, the one who connects others. next chapter should definitely be the answer for the last watchman series. time. interesting type of instrument to have for someone so adamant in living in the present.
