Honestly, most of the special effects in #Gappa are better than you would expect--and then they'll randomly do something like show a huge chunk of the studio ceiling in one shot because they didn't frame it properly.

Always thought it was a funny detail that, when they first attack a Japanese city, the mama Gappa has a giant octopus in her mouth. And she didn't have it when she first popped her head out of the water, so did she pop back under & find a huge octopus chilling in Sagami Bay? #Gappa

#Gappa the triphibian monster fresh out of the 1967 bag.

Hedorah from Godzilla vs Hedorah has transformed into "flying Hedorah," which looks something like a cross between a stingray and a horseshoe crab. But in a gross, weird pollution monster kind of way.

Yongary, the Korean kaiju, looks like a tyrannosaurus rex with a rhino horn. In this image from the film, he spits fire at an offscreen target.

The kaiju from the Japanese film, The X from Outer Space, is so bizarre looking that its hard to describe in alt text. If you cross a dinosaur with a fighter jet with a Christmas ornament maybe? Lol. The monster is named Guilala, which is pronounced like gwee lah lah.

The monster from the Japanese film, Gappa, the Triphibian Monster, looks like a cross between a reptile and an owl. The 1967 film was released in the US (probably directly to television) under with title, Monster from a Prehistoric Planet.
