Agree with your general point but the UK, to an untrained eye (like mine), also seems to have an odd form of FPTP with the way tactical voting has become so prominent.
Has anyone polled how many people actually voted *for* labour in 2024 and not for #GTTO (Get the Tories Out)?

as an outsider looking in, I was struck with how #GTTO went so viral on Müsks twitter platform. I didn't realise at the time labour were pro brexit but it makes more sense now.

I'm not sure the UK is "stuck". Polls in Scotland, Wales & NI are clearly pro EU and I suspect a large amount of english just voted to #GTTO in 2024, not for labours pro brexit stance.
Only the greens advocate for more democracy: a referendum on the EU. That must terrify Chris Grey types.

I voted Labour to #GTTO. With that done, what's left for me to vote for? Nothing.
I'm aware Labour are doing good stuff that'll never make the headlines, but that's mostly on them - they prefer to parp on about making the UK hostile to immigrants, rather than something we can be proud of.

I'm not so sure. Tactical voting was clearly at play yesterday and labour came out bigger losers than Reform.
Labour won in 2024 on the back of tactical votes to #GTTO.
Yesterday they found out tactical voters won't vote for them to keep Reform out.

They still use FPTP so there's often tactical voting going on, e.g. pro brexit labour got elected in 2024 largely on a tactical voting campaign to #GTTO (Get the Tories Out).
But this is interesting...voters turned their backs on the far right Reform party *and* the pro brexit labour party.

Greens is up a bit, LibDems never seems to move..... Cons vote has crashed.......
I'd say none of this is down to leave / Remain (join) as it's not at front of discussions. 2019 was Get Brexit Done, 2024 was #GTTO 2029 probably be Stop Reform!
For now Brexit is a settled issue for general populace

I should add, the European View I'm familiar with is it was largely the English who were hoodwinked into brexit via years of misinformation & bad actors.
The fact boris won in 2019 and pro brexit labour in 2024 is not a good look but I think labour was due to #GTTO not pro brexit sentiment.
