#GalwayCarTraffic was busy but moving in the city this morning, certainly on the west side, despite the inclement weather.

What could possibly explain it?

#GalwayCarTraffic becoming increasingly manic in late August. Not reflected in the attached Google Maps screenshot, but definitely noticeable on the streets this morning. Also very visible: red light breaking, rampant abuse of bus lanes, obstruction of roundabouts & poor provision for active travel.

Bishop O'Donnell Road merited special mention on #MorningIreland today.

In at least two traffic reports.

Wow. @rteradio1.bsky.social is so totally on the ball when it comes to monitoring #GalwayCarTraffic on behalf of hard-pressed motorists.

Claim City Council hasn't "done homework" on impact of school travel on city traffic | GalwayBayFM Galway City Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland haven't "done their homework" on the impact of school travel on city traffic patterns. That's according...

Everyone knows that #GalwayCarTraffic is transformed when schools are closed. There is a clear dose-response effect, which means that the Council, NTA & TII could use the phenomenon to study the impacts of modal shift.

Pity they have no interest in the subject.

Prediction: there will be a noticeable reduction in #GalwayCarTraffic around the end of May or the beginning of June.

Another marked decrease will occur a month or so later.

If anyone has evidence to the contrary, please post it here.

"In business you're measured by results," said Senator Pádraig Ó Céidigh in February 2018, before going on to lament that he was "really scared" about the economic calamity that would absolutely definitely result from #GalwayCarTraffic unless a second ring road was built.
