Scene from Kugelhagel ACW Demospiel video on the Tabletop Basement TV channel. The caption, auto-translated from German into English in a state-of-the-art fashion, is "...lose and the desire to Forced oral sex, then..."

There is no oral sex, forced or otherwise, in the tabletop miniatures game Kugelhagel. I think. I don't speak German, but I certainly didn't see anything in the English rule book.

This is a video about a tabletop miniatures game, Kugelhagel.

Hi! Some know I use phrase/standard "Does this historical game have defensible models about the past?" With (newer) Agential Problem Space one can ask "Does this agential game have defensible models about the world?". I use that instead of "is the game (historically) accurate?". 🧵1/

I have to say, the rules for Kugelhagel may be a bit of a mess (but hardly the worst I've seen), but the rulebook is beautiful.

Heya Historical Game Studies folks #gamingthepast. I know this is repetitive & shamelessly self-promoting, bt I keep seeing signs people are reading abt historical problem spaces up to 2020 article, when 2024 article is a major update + case study of how mechanics shape game history. Just sayin ...

We Didn’t Lose, the War Ended: Temporal Fictions in Raid on Taihoku | Historical Games Network We usually expect the fiction in historical games to appear in obvious places: invented characters, simplified battles, alternative endings where “history” might have gone another way. Raid on Taihoku...

New on the HGN blog, the next post in our Fictions theme. Sara Morini explores how Raid on Taihoku reworks time to create narrative fiction and rewrite history. Enjoy! www.historicalgames.net/raid-on-taih...

Liberté Manipulate your influence in 3 factions to win elections in the French Revolution.

It's that time of year again. We've finished my Rhetoric and Revolution in 10th grade modern world. Wrapped up the French Rev Monday and now we play Liberte for two days before they write a pretty intense essay comparing and contrasting the two as models of Revolution.

Looks interesting! The focus on environmental costs as an inherent part of (virtual) statecraft sounds particularly timely.

Plus, if the thesis is half as funny & articulated as this thread, it should be a joy to read!
