Like another poster here, this was the first time | heard Jerry live. The beautiful
Music Hall inside the K.C. Municipal Auditorium. So great to hear Jerry in a great
sounding venue the first time. Like the other poster, my first GD show was St. Louis
5/15/1977...First K.C. Dead show was 10/28/1977 at Memorial Hall, Kansas
City, KS...Great way to start my trip.

I got into the Dead while | was in High School, circa 1973-74. Unfortunately | was
living in Kansas City, where for some reason the Dead didn't perform for almost 5
years, between late '72 and late '77. It didn't help that the '75 hiatus happened
during that time, but getting to see Jerry at this show in ‘76 was such a joy!
Hearing Jerry perform songs that | already knew so well was just fantastic. The
Music Hall is a beautiful Art Deco venue, well suited to the Garcia Band. And if
am not mistaken | think | saw Betty herself behind the house mix console. | did
finally see the GD in St. Louis on 5/15/77 and they returned to KC that fall. It was
2 great time period to get on the bus!
3/26/76 kansas city, MO: sweet spidery RUSSIAN LULLABY with some ivy-like godchaux piano. another big piano moment in WHO WAS JOHN, low & ominous. 14-minute LONESOME & A LONG WAY FROM HOME encore, like turning on the full sunshine at the end of the night. taper […]
