A sunny snow covered slightly raised planting with a few dry stems showing through, including a dry Carlina thistle with prickly leaves and a flower head with dry bracts (false petals) to the right. More conspicuous than those stems are a number of small green spruce saplings, with variable caps and slowly collapsing coats of fresh snow. The background is smooth snow with a slight 'valley' between the planting and another slight mounded ridge to the right. A few blades of dry grass poke through the snow. In the background a blue linear shadow (from a power pole, I think) appears wavy on the uneven ground.
About 25-30cm of new snow, already compressing/ getting heavier! with mid day temperatures a little above freezing +strong sun. A couple of hours (2 people) shovelling; its going to get wet as we head to 20C/68F by mid week
