It took the British government two and half weeks to defer biometrics and grant 6, 100 visas to Ukrainians coming to the UK in March 2022, so why has it been such a slow and painstaking process for Palestinians? #GAZA40
Each of these students has been forced to endure unimaginable hardship and cruelty through Israel's relentless bombing campaign, ongoing dispacement, forced starvation and genocide. As many of you will have seen, the UK government has announced that, for now, it will evacuate 9 of the 40 students in Gaza - those who received Chevening scholarships, a government-led program funded by the Foreign Office. The positive aspect is that there is now after two months some movement, but it's not nearly enough. There are over 30 students and researchers who still need urgent evacuation. Haia Mohammed, the poet awarded a scholarship at Goldsmiths University, is among them. #GAZA40
