Only about 8% of people keep New Year’s resolutions—and ADHD makes all-or-nothing goals even harder. A yearly theme offers direction without pressure.

Picture of a 2026 Intentions journal surrounded by some cozy comforts. You don’t need a “new you” in the first week of January, just a little grace and maybe one intention that feels right. Are you setting goals, choosing a word for the year, or simply letting the year unfold?
As we head into the new year, here’s a gentle reminder:
resolutions don’t have to be all-or-nothing to matter. 💛
Small steps count. Rest counts. Changing your mind counts.

Last year, I was pretty damn hard on myself. This year, I want to be kinder and gentler. In the end, I’ll be better off for it. ❤️ How are you approaching 2026?

If all you do this morning is breathe and smile—you’ve already succeeded. 🌼 #GentleGoals
An illustrated wintry scene with white text over it. It is a poem where each line starts with a letter from the word January. The poem reads as follows: Just as soon as the festivities Are over, and the New Year comes around, it's Usual to set goals And big ones at that, when Really it's a rime for stillness, as You wait for Winter to pass.
My Gentle Goal last week was to write a poem, and I managed it with this one 😃
This week I'm hoping to go for a drink with Thea after an appointment.
Remember #GentleGoals are small, hopefully achievable, but have zero guilt if life gets in the way.
What's you're Gentle Goal for the week?
A photo of a pale pink cup of tea next to a white candle in a jar. There is an open book in the background and a pink and grey blanket in the foreground. There is black text in the bottom left hand corner which says "Gentle Goals".
One of the things I learned in therapy is how important setting *achievable* goals is to our mental health.
So I thought I'd start a weekly practice of setting #GentleGoals. And I invite you to join me.
The only rule is - be kind and gentle to yourself, no pressure!
My goal is in the comments.
