Sending birthday wishes to Mr #RobertTaylor, who played #GeoffWalters in S1 and S2. Geoff was a complex man, and Robert brought him to life incredibly well. He was certainly missed in S3!

I'm watching an episode of #CrimeInvestigationAustralia from 2005, and presenter #SteveLiebmann is dressed very similar to #GeoffWalters in Season Two of #TheNewsreader.

I cannot be the only one who sees the similarities, surely! ❤️📺

It is with a heavy heart to say that Mr #GeoffWalters died offscreen at the beginning of Season Three, a month prior to the 1989 Logie Awards.

He was born on the 1st February 1926, and it appears he died on the 3rd February 1989.

He had only just turned 63 💔

In the 1980s, #GeoffWalters was struggling with his heart, and so was #SirEricPearce, as discovered in this #NewIdea magazine from 17/09/1988.

Sir Pearce was recovering from heart surgery, and was said to be frustrated by losing his independence, just like Geoff.

In 1986, #GeoffWalters had been on television screens for thirty years. The public love and respect for him was so huge that he had to avoid busy streets, it was simply that fierce.

He helped bring TV news to Melbourne, and he was a star.
