A white ceramic bowl filled with my late dinner: microwaved sticky rice with various veggies. Buying the right rice for this is tricky. You must not buy rice that says it is sticky rice. That's a totally different kind of rice and the microwave trick doesn't work with it. Look for Asian rice that is sold as 'sweet' or 'glutinous' rice - but really, before you buy any of this kind of rice, check if it is indeed the right kind. I bought Kimpo sweet rice, which is a Korean rice. It is excellent but I am in Europe. I have no idea if you can get it in the US or anywhere outside Europe (excepting Korea, I guess - but some products are exclusively sold abroad, so who knows...) The microwave trick: 3 minutes in the microwave and stir 4 minutes in the microwave and stir 5 minutes rest with a tight lid on. Eat.
More microwaved glutinous rice but I now also have the short grain variety.
The advantage of the short grain rice is that, while you have to eat the long grain rice immediately, before it clumps, the short grain rice remains luscious for hours.
