It’s #GrantingYouADreamlikeLife ‘s 7.5 score. I enjoyed it a lot but I watched veeeeery early on in my C-drama experience when I was still fresh faced (so to speak). Most people pan that drama! 👎

As #Guardian was my first C-drama, watched back in 2019 I think, and I immediately wanted to watch other Z1L dramas, it was easy enough to roll with #GrantingYouADreamlikeLife. I’d barely watched anything and so quality control wasn’t such a big barrier then!

There’s #GrantingYouADreamlikeLife and #MyTrueFriend, both of which I’ve watched and neither of which I can recommend because they’re not objectively good shows. (If I had to pick one of them, I’d say watch GYADL because it’s at least a meaty role for him and he makes it his.)

Thinking about it, #GrantingYouADreamlikeLife maybe should be in the musicians and/or dancers list(s) as well, since the FL is a Chinese opera singer and performer (as are her father and adoptive brother - in fact they live with and in the trope - all through the first arc of the drama).

(2) historical C-drama #Luoyang for architects/designers/makers - Wang Yibo’s character is exactly this!

(3) Republican C-drama #GrantingYouADreamlikeLife for the TV/film/actors - FL becomes a film actress and stuntwoman

OK, there’s a photography scene in ep 2 that is 👌👌. Plus, in ep 3 I’ve spotted a location from #GrantingYouADreamlikeLife so that’s fun too.

I feel like Luo Fusheng from #GrantingYouADreamlikeLife should get an honourable mention as second best opera fan in C-dramaland. (Sadly very few gifs and none showing his opera fascination.)
