I had to look up what others thought and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one feeling like the “good” ending isn't actually the right one. It was obvious the game wanted me to pick unity despite the lore making it clear the old world needs to gtfo

Even as a relative newcomer to GreedFall, I often see players who take an unfavorable initial impression of Thélème (with some hopefulness about the Bridge Alliance)only to alter course by game’s end.
And I think that’s not surprising!

Much as it pained De Sardet, she slew Constantin. She felt obligated to.
For High King she weighed the scales for Dunccas, got the Ordo Luminas exiled, and the Nauts to reform their ways. Hope on the Malichor is kindled for Gacane as well.
All told, a very positive ending.
