Like a counterweight lever, the wolf's body elevates and floats to chest-height and he feels claws clench on both back and snout. TJ blinds himself by the hanging spotlights, and with his eyesight interrupted, his ears catch the final noise of the table returning to its place. TJ realizes something: In this eternity of 2 seconds, he hopes the table crash doesn't stab him with splinters."
