Three gulls on a wooden railing. A Ring-billed slightly out of focus walking in the direction of the camera, a Laughing Gull (white head, darker back, black primary feathers extending beyond tail), and a young Franklin's which is standing on the back of the Laughing Gull with its wings straight in the air. The Franklin's is noticeably smaller than both other gulls, has a black patch around its eye and head, white underparts, and a bit of the darker upper wing is also present.
Ohhh, #TwoSpeciesTuesday here's three. A bully Ring-billed Gull was running off the other birds, and I captured one of my favorite comparison shots to date: A Franklin's on top of a Laughing Gull ๐ชถ

A gull flying from the left to the right of the image. Its bill is a deep orange, almost red. The head is white overall. The outerwing- which is down near the ground- is a deep gray with a small, white trailing edge. The back is the same deep gray. There's a white edge leading back to a black tail. The gull is just above a sandy ground with scattered rocks. A large, dead, weathered log can be seen in the background along with a root mass and a small square of blue sky to the left.
One of the more beautiful gulls (imo), the Heermann's Gull. Olympic Peninsula, WA. ๐ชถ

Three smallish gulls are in shallow water with a small wave crashing behind them. They are all sub-adult. The first is floating, the second in a relaxed stance, and the third in a more alert posture. All birds are facing left. They are white ish brown overall with a very dark eye and bill. They are arranged in a way that no legs can be seen.
I'm a huge gull nerd. These sweet babies (Iceland Gulls) probably wouldn't steal from you, but their cousins might๐
