Missed the first 20min of the 2nd half & was stuck watching on my phone.

Killer blow for #GlasgowWarriors not securing the kickoff after their try to take the lead.

Stayed stuck under #GwaliaLightning pressure in their half for most of the last 15 mins & Gwalia deny them a losing bonus point.

#GlasgowWarriors have improved as the game has gone, a handful of better exits and got attacking opportunities and pressure in the #GwaliaLightning half.

But overall the hosts have been inaccurate at set piece and exits and gifted Gwalia too many dangerous opportunities in their red zone.

Another absolute bomb from Carys Hughes. #GwaliaLightning

Twice now #GlasgowWarriors have played Poppy Mellanby on the inside shoulder of Briar McNamara. Catching #GwaliaLightning backs defending laterally with hips turned to the sideline.

Both teams using 2 player pods really effectively. #GwaliaLightning in particular are switching between pod shapes regularly and asking questions of the #GlasgowWarriors defense.

Sian Jones and Carys Hughes for #GwaliaLightning are fantastic to watch.

Both a threat with ball in hand, organize and distribute really well. Keeping Gwalia constantly going forward and playing off quick ball.

Another instance of #GlasgowWarriors trying to force ball in hand play in their own red zone and lacking accuracy. Keep gifting #GwaliaLightning dangerous attacks in their 22m.

Watching #GlasgowWarriors vs #GwaliaLightning in the #CelticChallenge. Gwalia are dominating territory, several attacks in Glasgow red zone already in the first quarter, converting twice.

Gwalia exiting their half successfully, Glasgow struggling. Gwalia using a variety of kicks to great effect.

#EdinburghRugby 's two wins came in the first two rounds where they were the more dominant team, but have since struggled to reach the same levels.

Round 5 vs #GwaliaLightning was a close fought match where both teams cancelled each other out for large parts of the game.

Looking at #EdinburghRugby vs #GwaliaLightning in Round 5 of the #CelticChallenge, what trends do you notice?

Have to give it to #GwaliaLightning, they were patient and trusted their defense, kicked super well and were accurate and ruthless in taking their opportunities!

A bit of a tug of war in the 1st half of the round 5 rematch in #CelticChallenge between #EdinburghRugby and #GwaliaLightning.

Each team dominating possession and camped in the opposition red zone for 10-15 minutes but failing to convert, getting held up in goal.

The winner will probably...

All in all, a very positive performance and two crucial match points for #EdinburghRugby that should give them a much needed confidence boost going into the second half of the season and a rematch away to #GwaliaLightning tomorrow.

If they can iron out and execute a few details that were...

... they will need to look to improve on over the course of the season.

Another area they will look to improve is their kick off receipt, as they let several bounce and on one occasion gifted possession back to #GwaliaLightning who quickly went on the score. Giving away points immediately...

#EdinburghRugby could have won the game on their missed conversions alone, only managing 1/5 to #GwaliaLightning 's 3/4.

While it may be unfair to pin the game on goal kickers alone, especially as many of the conversions were quite difficult attempts from the touchline, this will be an area...

So where did it go wrong?

Well for one, #GwaliaLightning were ruthless with their Red Zone opportunities.

#EdinburghRugby couldn't capitalize on any of their first half Red Zone opportunities, getting held up or losing possession.

Field position was more or less split between the two teams, illustrating both team's attacking intent and effectiveness. #EdinburghRugby just about had the edge overall and were clear winners in the first half, but #GwaliaLightning took the honours in the second half.

In what was an entertaining and end to end game, #EdinburghRugby posted their best attacking efficiency score since Round 1, showing a clear improvement from Round 4.

The marginal difference between them and #GwaliaLightning shows just how competitive this game was.

Short thread on last week's Round 5 fixture between #EdinburghRugby and #GwaliaLightning in #CelticChallenge!

Back at home, Edinburgh hoped to get back to winning ways but fell just short, cruelly denied a winning try with the clock in the red, forced to settle for two bonus points in the loss.

So, have #GlasgowWarriors turned a corner?

If they can replicate the first half of Round 4 against #GwaliaLightning and maintain it across 80 minutes then I believe they can start putting in solid performances and getting results.

Unfortunately #GlasgowWarriors weren't able to maintain this domination in the 2nd half.

The kicking errors & compounding mistakes of previous rounds returned. They forced play in their own half, their zone exit % dropped, & gifted #GwaliaLightning dangerous field position and opportunities.

This resulted in #GlasgowWarriors best zone exit % & average field position of the competition so far & great red zone opportunities, which they converted fairly efficiently.

They also limited #GwaliaLightning red zone opportunities, although they made the most of those precious few chances.

#GlasgowWarriors exit kicks were excellent; they put in clever attacking kicks on the front foot and engaged in a kicking exchange that resulted in a dangerous opportunity to counter attack against a disorganized and disconnected #GwaliaLightning defence.

#GlasgowWarriors kicked long and various contestable kicks, keeping the #GwaliaLightning defence guessing and honest.

Half of their first half kicks came off 9, which proved a weapon in Round 1. Surprisingly, they abandoned it against #Wolfhounds in Round 3.

In the first half, #GlasgowWarriors posted their best average field position in the competition so far and did a great job of pinning #GwaliaLightning in their own half.

They kicked well, were able to launch off set piece and take advantage of their opportunities.
