Illinois Lt. Gov/US Senate hopeful Juliana Stratton got her political career started in 2016, when she unseated Democratic incumbent Ken Dunkin in the #HD05 primary.

Dunkin had infuriated pretty much every Democrat in Illinois by voting with Bruce Rauner, so Stratton won by 36!

Final results in the Virginia #HD05 (Harris+59) special election:

Kirk McPike (D)- 81.8%
Marvin Mason Butler (R)- 18.2%

Four point overperformance from 2024 for the Democrats in this districts on the outskirts of Washington D.C.

We have three special state legislative elections tonight and they could not be in more radically different places.

In Virginia, the safely Democratic #SD39 and #HD05 in Alexandria are up for grabs, while in Oklahoma the safely Republican/rural #HD35 is up for grabs.

Over in Alaska, Louise Stutes was one of the major Republicans players in the State House who left the GOP caucus to form a Majority Coalition with the Dems and Independents.

She ascended to the Speakership after 2020 and beat back a Republican challenger in 2022 in her #HD05.
