A screenshot of a facebook post from an account called HTX News showing a decorated USMC veteran (Aboyte) at the Houston No Kings 3 protest outside city hall on March 28th 2026 being hassled and cited by an HPD officer for carrying a U.S. flag in distress coupled with a OnePiece pirate flag because HPD believed the size of the stick did not conform to the municipal code. He is surrounded by a crowd of protesters. The account asks readers should veterans exercise their first amendment right to peacefully gather while in full uniform?

This veteran attendee was so helpful in deescalating two different tense situations, but all HPD saw was a problem with a pole. Whew! #HoustonPoliceDepartment
