In 1939 Britain imposed limits on #Zionist migration. French ocean liner #SSPatria was chartered to deport 1800 Jewish refugees when #Haganah militants set off bombs. The ship sank in 18 minutes, killing 267 people & wounding 172. Britain allowed the rest to remain in #Palestine.
