I recall days family lived in small town, big house that had 1 coke fired heater (heat to rest of house via chimney) also provided hot water.
Local coal merch. got supply from Wales. #HatchetThatcher appeared. Closed mines. Merchant couldn't get Welsh supplies.
Poland supplies. No match in quality.

I believe thinking behind it, from the franchises perspective, there was zero huge capital outlay & the cost could be set aside for tax purposes.
