A walk around #HawaiiVolcanoesNP reveals historic roads, landmarks, trails, buildings. Much of this infrastructure was built nearly a century ago by the young men of the #CivilianConservationCorps (CCC) between 1934 & 1942.

Photographer @aloha_kainoa.y (IG) was greeted by a beautiful rainbow/fogbow, & wrote: With quick hands & a bit of luck, I managed to capture this shot of a #nēnē pair flying high above.

💧 Got Water?
Pls bring your own water when visiting Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. The water station at Kīlauea Visitor Center is unavailable during renovations. A drinking fountain is available at Uēkahuna & a bottle filling station will be reinstalled there soon.🚰

Let's take a #WayBackWednesday trip to 2014 and the eruption of #Kīlauea Volcano, which was then happening at Puʻu ʻŌʻō Crater within #hawaiivolcanoesnp, with slow streams of lava meandering down to the coast. While this process makes new land, it also extinguishes some early lava field settlers. 🌿🌋
NPS VIP photographer @janice_weicool has an eye for the unusual & sublime at our partner #hawaiivolcanoesnp, like this capture of Wahinekapu (Steaming Bluff). Many of you have wandered in wonder in that misty place along the crater rim 🌫️🌋, but here is a perspective rarely seen 👀.
Have you been here?
Park rangers, the NPS Passport stamp station, Junior Ranger books, visitor services and the Hawaii Pacific Parks Association store are now located at the temporary Welcome Center at Kilauea Military Camp on Crater Rim Drive east located about 1.2 miles from the closed center.
