No such publication was available in England, although #HaroldGillies did try, with the support of #HenryTonks to publish a medical journal on the treatment of #maxillofacialtrauma. Gillies published Plastic Surgery of the Face in 1925, an essential textbook for plastic surgeons for many years.
😃 My PhD thesis was a study of medical portraits of #WWI facial trauma by #HenryTonks, who’s very well known, and a French artist called #RaphaelFreida who isn’t!! The latter did some fantastic portraits of #AlbericPont patients in various stages of treatment. Wonderful sources.
