Many folks, from Lawyers to Rickshaw Drivers, have told me that I "speak Kannada like a Coorg person"!

Maybe, that is because most of my friends in Bangalore were defacto Coorgi and without realising it, I picked up that accent!

I am not a native Kannada speaker.

I learnt to speak Kannada in 2009 - within a year of moving! It is a practical thing to do - to learn the native language rather than "Hindi is National Language" arrogance! It is NOT the National language BTW!

Hindi is NOT India's National Language!

Malayalam has a rich literary tradition dating back to 830AD. Kannada to 450 AD, Telugu to 575AD! Marathi goes back to 1000AD!

Tamil is the oldest language, dating back to 300BC!

Hindi was introduced only in 1870 - by the British!
